comFortress – Offline Encryption. One-Way Transmission. Absolute Security.
developed by KraLos

Patent No: LU103080
A functional prototype is available!

comFortress is a new type of communication solution from KraLos that encrypts sensitive messages, videos or voice content offline and transmits them to Internet-enabled devices via a unidirectional physical connection – comFortress is completely isolated from the network and therefore virtually unassailable.

The message is encrypted via a separate, non-networked transmitter device, then translated into sound, vibration, light pulses or Bluetooth signals and transmitted to a networked device on one side. From there, the message is sent digitally. The recipient receives the message via an analog or digital notification (e.g. push, ping, sound), and the receiving device, which is also isolated, actively listens to the signal, decrypts it locally and makes the information readable.

Advantages of comFortress

  • Maximum security: no IP address, no channel for eavesdropping, no cloud connection
  • Can also be used in sensitive or isolated environments: Military, government, high security companies, research, critical infrastructure
  • Innovative attack prevention approach: No protection through defense, but through physical separation and one-way data flow
  • Versatile physical transmission channels: Audio (sounds, frequency patterns), visual (light pulses), tactile (vibration), low-power Bluetooth
  • No central infrastructure required: devices can be operated autonomously – no registration, no servers, no cloud

What comFortress makes possible

  • Offline encryption: Content is created and encrypted on a stand-alone device – without any connection to the Internet
  • Unidirectional transmission: The message is translated into a physical signal (e.g. sound, light, vibration) and only transmitted in one direction – from the isolated device to the power supply unit
  • Manipulation resistance: No bidirectional connection = no return channel for attacks, malware or monitoring
  • Discreet delivery: Receiving device can be alerted by acoustic signals, light or vibration, for example
  • Local decoding at the receiver: The receiver decodes the signal independently – completely offline

Typical application scenarios

  • Secure communication between isolated networks (e.g. OT ↔ IT)
  • Transmission of critical commands or authentication in restricted zones
  • Spy-proof communication between two people (e.g. managers, security authorities)
  • Backup communication in the event of network failures or emergencies

comFortress by KraLos stands for a radically different security principle:
One-way street instead of firewall. Offline instead of online.
Control through isolation.
